Château du Fraissinet
|
Château du Fraissinet is a pretty country house situated in the wild Cévennes National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It has been nestling in its beautiful valley for at least four centuries and is mentioned in the archives of 1640 as a fortified farm presided over by a Seigneur.
This is real countryside and light pollution is minimal. When night falls you will love star-gazing and planet-spotting and often, on a clear night, will see the Milky Way. The spacious six acre grounds are great for kids to explore and the river is shallow enough to paddle and fish with nets, with a deeper spot for swimming and inflatable boats. Just 2km away the stunning Lakes of Camboux offer more options for wild swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding and pedaloes. Relax in the sunshine beside the pool, splash in the river or play table tennis in the shade of the hundred-year-old plane trees, there is lots to do without ever leaving the château grounds. But if you fancy a day out then our 'Things to do' page has lots of exciting ideas from visiting the iconic Roman Pont du Gard, to kayaking on one of the area's beautiful rivers. |
The Bio-UVC-Ozone Pool |
Rightly the focus of the family holiday, the pool is immensely important. Ours is refilled every year with natural spring water and is a massive hit with holidaymakers of all ages.
Relax on a sun lounger and listen to the cascading water as it tumbles through the pools. Soak up the sun whilst sitting in the spa pool or simply enjoy a swim in the main pool. You’ll feel refreshed and rejuvenated by the natural surroundings. The pool uses the latest technology in water purification treatment to keep chemical use to an absolute minimum so that the water remains as natural as possible. This means water is much gentler on young and sensitive skins. The pool area is gated and fenced. Children must be accompanied at all times for their and others' safety and security. The main pool measures 11m x 5m x 1.4m and there are shallower pools for younger children and a spa pool when you just want to relax. Pool opening times 8h - 21h. Adults only swimming 8h -9h30 & 19h- 21h Kindly note that the pool is available from mid-May onwards

A small, friendly campsite with snack bar is just across the road and our local restaurant, the Auberge du Fraissinet, is a 300m stroll along the river bank. The local bar (300m) also does good food. All are great options for a hassle-free lunch or evening meal.

About Us
Chris and Alison Burns bought the beautiful, but neglected Chateau du Fraissinet in 2002 and moved in straight away with their four children. It was a real adventure and the first couple of years were spent working non-stop on the house and grounds which were in a very dilapidated state. Fortunately Chris had been in the building industry since leaving school and has been able to do all the renovation work himself - including the pool which he designed and built from scratch. Having complete control over the work means that everything is finished to a high standard.
The Château du Fraissinet is not only a fabulous holiday destination but also our home and a very special place. It is a real pleasure to share it with our guests and see how much everyone enjoys their holidays here, going away relaxed and invigorated at the end of their stay. |
